Rashes & Inflammatory Skin Conditions

Rashes and inflammatory skin conditions are among the most common reasons patients visit a dermatologist. These conditions can range from short-term irritation to chronic flare-ups that impact your quality of life. At On the Spot Dermatology, we understand how frustrating, painful, or embarrassing these issues can be — and we're here to help you get the answers and relief you need.

Whether you're experiencing an itchy outbreak, red scaly patches, or unpredictable flare-ups, our team will identify the cause and create a personalized treatment plan that helps calm your skin and restore comfort.

When to Seek Treatment

  • If a rash lasts longer than a few days
  • If it’s painful, spreading, or affecting sleep

  • If you’re experiencing recurring flare-ups
  • If your skin is cracking, bleeding, or infected
  • If a rash is accompanied by fever or swelling

How We Can Help

  • Biopsy or patch testing if needed
  • Prescription topicals or oral medications
  • Anti-inflammatory and soothing therapies
  • Personalized skincare guidance to prevent future flare-ups

We offer a compassionate, modern approach to chronic skin conditions and acute outbreaks — without long wait times.

Rashes & Inflammatory Skin Conditions We Treat

We diagnose and treat a wide range of rashes and inflammation-related conditions, including:

Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema)

A chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by dry, itchy, red patches that often appear on the face, neck, arms, or behind the knees. It can be triggered by allergens, stress, or environmental factors. Treatment includes topical steroids, prescription moisturizers, and long-term skin barrier support.

Seborrheic Dermatitis

A common condition that causes flaky, greasy scales and redness, especially on the scalp, eyebrows, ears, and around the nose. Often mistaken for dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis can be controlled with medicated shampoos, antifungal creams, and gentle skincare routines.

Dyshidrotic Eczema

Characterized by tiny, fluid-filled blisters on the hands and feet that can be itchy or painful. Triggers include stress, sweating, and allergens. Treatment includes topical steroids, soaks, and lifestyle modifications to reduce flare-ups.

Nummular Dermatitis

This type of eczema presents as round, coin-shaped patches that may be itchy or crusted. Common on the arms and legs, it often develops after skin injury or excessive dryness. Treatment involves topical anti-inflammatory medications and aggressive moisturization.

Contact Dermatitis (Allergic or Irritant)

A rash caused by direct contact with an allergen or irritant, such as poison ivy, fragrances, or harsh soaps. Symptoms include redness, swelling, and intense itching. Identifying and avoiding triggers is key; treatment includes topical steroids and antihistamines.

Psoriasis (Mild to Moderate)

A chronic autoimmune condition that speeds up skin cell turnover, causing thick, scaly plaques that may itch or crack. Common areas include elbows, knees, and scalp. We treat mild to moderate cases with topical medications, steroid injections, or light therapy.

Hives (Urticaria)

Raised, red welts that appear suddenly and often itch or burn. They may be caused by allergies, infections, stress, or unknown triggers. Treatment includes antihistamines, corticosteroids, and identifying any underlying causes.

Pityriasis Rosea

A self-limiting rash that usually begins with a single “herald patch,” followed by smaller oval patches on the trunk. It may look alarming but often resolves on its own in 6–8 weeks. Soothing lotions and anti-itch medications can help reduce discomfort.

Lichen Planus

An inflammatory skin condition that results in shiny, flat-topped bumps, often purple in color. It can affect the skin, scalp, nails, or mucous membranes. The cause is often unknown but may be linked to autoimmune activity. Treated with corticosteroids and immune-modulating medications.

Stasis Dermatitis

A chronic rash that occurs due to poor circulation, usually in the lower legs. It causes swelling, redness, itching, and sometimes skin discoloration or ulcers. Managing the underlying vein issues along with topical care is essential for long-term relief.
